How to track your lost Android Phone on the PC

What can you do if your phone got lost or stolen and there is no anti-theft app installed on it? Tears won't not solve the problem. But Android Device Manager will. Here's how!
There are many anti-theft or phone recovery apps available on the Google Play Store, which can be very helpful in case you lose your phone or if it gets stolen. But, what if it's too late and your phone has gone missing before you've installed the app? Good news: there is another way. Here's how you can track your missing Android phone even without a proper app.
Let's have a look at the easiest way to get your Android smartphone back to its rightful owner! If you are the owner of Xiaomi phones, please try to track your lost phone in How to use MI Cloud to find your lost Xiaomi phone.
Android Device Manager

What is Android Device Manager (ADM)?

Android Device Manager, officially released by Google, is an easy and convenient tool to track your Android phone or tablet. The advantage of ADM is that you don't have to install an app to track your device. The only requirement is that your device is connected to your Google account, turned on and connected to the internet. All you need to do is to visit the Android Device Manager website and login with your Google Account. Once the site is loaded, it will automatically try to track down your phone. If you have several Android devices under one Google Account, you can see them all in the dropdown menu - simply choose the one you've lost.

How to track your Android phone with ADM?

Step 1: Check if your device meets the requirements of using ADM.

To ensure you can track your phone effectively, these requirements are as follows:
● Your device is associated with your Google account.
● Your device has internet access.
● Android Device Manager (ADM) is allowed to locate your device (turned on by default). This can be changed in the Google Settings app.
● ADM is allowed to lock your device and erase its data (turned off by default). This can be changed in the Google Settings app.

Step 2: Login Google account to locate your phone.

Head over to Android Device Manager where you need to login with your Google account. After you've logged in successfully, you can start locating your phone. If this is the first time you have done this, you'll be prompted to accept Google's request for location data. As this is a tracking service, it's necessary to do so to let the feature to work properly.

Step 3: Check the current position of your Android phone.

If you already have a device with location services turned on then it should automatically appear on your list. Here you'll see the current position of your handset, along with the last time it was used.
I found a new feature in the search results page. You can directly search "where is my phone" and Google will display a little map above the search results in which it will try to find your phone. You can log into your account and you should be able to quickly locate any registered Android device right from the search results. Once found, you can let it ring by clicking on "Ring" in the bottom left corner.
locate your phone
The downside - although this makes it quicker to locate your phone, it doesn't offer all the options you get with the full version of Android Device Manager.
In case there is no laptop around when you lose your device, you can also use someone else's Android phone to track it. Instead of using the mobile browser, you can use the Android Device Manager app. If the other phone doesn't have it, simply download it here. You can sign in using the guest mode and your Google account credentials. Now, you should be able to track your lost device, let it ring or wipe its data remotely.
ADM doesn't offer more options to remotely control your phone. I hope that Google keeps improving it and introduces more helpful features, such as taking pictures in case it got stolen and you want to take a snapshot of the person who took it and get the ultimate revenge of posting the pic all over social media.
To locate or wipe your phone, you need to use Android Device Manager. Of course, there are other 3rd Party security applications which may turn out to be more featureful than ADM. But, all in all, ADM provides the easiest way to locate an Android device.
